		<description><![CDATA[I had the excellent opportunity to be a harvest intern at Northstar, one of the CSM pearls; the winery (winemakers) indeed had a great deal of independence, and could &quot;shop&quot; a wide variety of Walla Walla vineyards for their choice of grapes (within contractual limits), many of the vineyards with long term ties to the success of Northstar and the other &quot;pearls&quot;. They had the benefit of economies of scale (I am not an economist, but I can throw jargon endlessly, both meaningfully and not) on grapes, on chemicals, on equipment and on money, for making timely changes in what they pursue.

I found CSM&#039;s employees and managers to be passionate and engaged. I HATE corporations - they are not people, although they are all too human; Chateau Ste. Michelle and Northstar changed my mind, at least about them.]]></description>
