This is a great article, making an excellent point.
If I remember correctly, it was Robert Heilbroner who said, "We are all slaves under the economic whip."
There are so many decent, tasty wines made today that you can choose a wine that tastes great with Chicken Paprikash or Grilled Lamb Chops Scottadita without seeing your banker, using a charge card or even getting out extra money for the week.
Good wines have never been so accessible before.

I met George at the European Wine Bloggers Conference last month. He is a very nice guy, honest, and very low key. I read his book and will review next week on my blog, GoodCheapVino.com. I love a good tasting bargain wine and agree with him that most wine drinkers cannot tell the difference between a Wine Spectator 88 point and a 95 Point wine. If you like it, drink it!

Thanks much, I'll definitely need to add this to my winter reading list. Given the underserved and untapped demographics that have yet to engage the wine world, and the fact that when/if they do, it will probably be at lower price points, knowing that end of the spectrum, is important for wine educators. It was a $4 bottle of Chilean wine, in 1991, that really opened my eyes to the QPR potential on the 'low end', and since then, I have never disdained a wine, simply because of a single digit price tag. The bottle should at least be given the oportunity to prove itself worthy for the daily table.
